So what is Empire Wrestling?
-Empire Wrestling, in-character, started off as a developmental fed to Blazenwing Wrestling Federation. Think similar to what NXT is to WWE. It originally was a wrestling school opened by BWF Hall of Famer Gabe Shelley as Empire Wrestling Academy. EWA trained a number of BWF Superstars. In June of 2015 it was decided that EW would become a fully functional developmental part of the BWF with programming on the BWF Network. EW was based solely out of New York City in a remodeled warehouse in the Long Island City area. "Rookies, talents looking to make a comeback, or guys that just feel they haven’t been given a fair chance around the world can sign with EW and be given a chance to work out with some of the best trainers in the country. We hope for EW talent will work to become the best and even have opportunities to move up to become the next BWF star" or thrive in EW.
That was 2015, this is now. Today EW has returned but this time stands on it's own two feet. Empire Wrestling will still hold shows in that small remodeled warehouse in Long Island City but today EW is ready to hit the road and become a bigger and better fed. At the core it still believes EW can be a home for all types of talents and looks forward to helping build and rebuild careers.
The Warehouse
-The Warehouse, located in Long Island City, NY, is about 15,000 square feet. It's a repurposed warehouse that houses a ring, a practice ring, a gym, and a small studio for promos, along with the EW Offices. EW Superstars can come to the Warehouse during the week and always be able to use the equipment for training purposes. During the days of being a developmental federation for BWF, EW invested in apartments in the city as well for its talent. While a lot of the apartments have been claimed, there's always room for talent needing a place to stay before or after a show.
Who's in charge of EW?
-At this time it is unclear who handles most day to day operations of Empire Wrestling, in character. It appears to be in control by a small board of investors.
What type of e-fed is EW?
Empire Wrestling started off as an "angle fed" but over time it's become clear that doesn't quite fit the direction of the fed. With the mixing of RP elements, pre-determined outcomes, unknown outcomes as we want to gauge your reaction in-character, we've now started to call ourselves a "hybrid fed" to cover all bases.
How does EW work?
-PARTICIPATION
Victories can never be guaranteed, EW staff write shows to develop storylines and feuds in the best way that they can conceive. You can push staff in the direction that you want your match to go using the following tools. While no one item is mandatory but the more you do, the more likely it is that you will reach your goals.
Promoting: Using Twitter to give us insight into what this match/show/angle etc. means to your character and why they should win. Consider your Twitter presence as condensed promos..
We don’t ask that you write thousand word Tweet series promos, we just want you to interact with your opponent(s) and other characters on the roster. Staff pluck ideas for storylines out of these interactions.
Spots: A great way to get your character over is to submit spots for your match. They do not have to be elaborate or even numerous, just give us an idea of what you want to do in the ring.
Segments/Angles: You can submit full segments or segment stubs (which is an idea for a segment) to staff for each and every show. This is a great way to show staff exactly what you want to do with your character. These can be any event that takes place on the show be it; a run in, a video segment (not in the arena), a backstage segment, etc. Segments may be edited/altered to suit the flow of the show.
There is also our favorite vehicle to use; EW #Afterparty. Afterparty is a reactionary area where you can go immediately after the show to talk about any of the angles that happened, including your own. Pick up a big win? Let's hear about it! Suffer a loss but not going to let it keep you down? Show the world. Got your eyes on one of the other matches because you want to challenge someone? Don't hide behind the curtain, let them know.
EW's events are (currently) weekly and every character is expected to write a something to help drive their character in either the EW Afterparty, the EW Live area, or have a presence on Twitter, for each show. You can also submit or work with the fedhead on some sort of segment for the show. Empire Wrestling, as a lot of feds are now, has a presence on Twitter as well. It is also recommended that you sign up for Twitter if you don't have one as most cards and announcements are posted on Twitter first. We do understand that things happen and won't penalize for a week of inactivity. After the second inactivity you are generally placed on a LOA until you submit some sort of RP in those areas.
What's the schedule like?
-There will be a (currently) weekly show with, up to, 6 "supershow" events.
How do I get my character over?
-Winners and losers will usually be decided on by the fedhead. Getting your character over happens by putting forth effort in your time in EW. Things like in-character posts will play a factor into the decision making while also working with the ideas and thrown at you. You're also free to work with another competitor to decide who wins and loses a certain match/feud as long, or just kick back and enjoy the ride and respond accordingly. Remember, these things do not guarantee a win or a loss. They will however help you succeed in the long run and your Empire Wrestling career.
