Episode #67 - March 20, 2021
Josh Goldstein Vs. Josh Williams
The Start: Williams was already in the ring to start the show as Goldstein started to make his way to the ring. We got a few stills of Next Level: Revolution’s Tag Team Battle Royal where Goldstein and Daemon were one of the final three teams in the match. The fans popped for Goldstein as he jogged out to the stage for the match. He spun around and threw a fist in the sky and looked like a rocker as some pyro went off behind him. He went to the ring and we were set to get started. The two men circled each other and Williams locked up with Goldstein and pulled him into a headlock. Goldstein pushed him off and into the ropes and caught Williams with an arg drag. Williams was up right away and into a corner and caught a charging Goldstein with a boot to the face. Williams jumped to the second rope and Goldstein jumped up and took him down with a Frankensteiner!
The Match: Goldstein was in control of the match and was able to show off with the Olé/Oy Vey! (Rope Walk Arm drag). Goldstein flipped Williams around with a victory roll for two before Williams kicked out. Both men got to their feet and Williams spiked Goldstein to the mat with a jumping DDT. Josh went to the second rope and came flying off with an elbow drop. He covered Goldstein but could only get two. Williams pulled Goldstein up and Goldstein started to fight back with right hands. Goldstein set Williams up and hit him with a Code Red! Goldstein was in the pin attempt and Williams kicked out. Williams flipped up and caught Goldstein with a knee to the face! Williams covered and Goldstein kicked out at two. Williams pulled Goldstein up and sent him into the ropes. Goldstein hit the ropes and came back with the Brooklyn Quebrada (Springboard Moonsault inverted DDT)!
The End: Goldstein pulled Williams up and connected with an atomic drop and then a spinebuster. Williams crawled to the ropes and it set him up perfectly for Goldstein to hit the 718 (Tiger Feint Kick)! Goldstein readied himself and connected with the East Coast Schlock (Springboard dragonrana for the roll-up) and picked up the pinfall!
WINNER: Josh Goldstein via pinfall @ 9:42
In Case You Missed It
“Hell Yeah” by Rev Theory begins to play as Casey Grey steps out onto the ramp. She wastes no time before walking down and taking a microphone from the commentators. Then she enters the ring and the music stops. She paces around the ring for a moment before speaking.
Casey Grey: You know, I was gonna come out here and use all sorts of colorful language to get my point across, but I decided I was gonna be nice instead. Or, at least, professional about it.
Casey tousles her hair and starts to speak again.
Casey Grey: First of all, Sara Logan. You’re gonna give me my title shot. I don’t know what about me and the other Belles sticks in your craw, but you’re gonna have to swallow it. I don’t know why you saw fit to not name me the number one contender after beating Harper Blake. You said you would consider it. You didn’t. Then, I had to wrestle Manic, and you made that the number one contender match and since nobody actually won you made this three way match at Revolution.
Casey shakes her head and laughs.
Casey Grey: What a cop out. Giving your pet Lacy Nelson exactly what she wanted, the two of them against me. And of course, I lose the match but I didn’t really lose. The whole thing was planned out.
A mixed reaction rises up from the crowd.
Casey Grey: Oh, come on. Any of you people actually doubt this? You call yourself fans, did any of you even watch Next Level? You, in the back. Play my tape.
The screen comes to life as scenes from Next Level: Revolution begin to play.
The film stops. Casey points at the screen and turns to the fans.
Casey Grey: Come on. What are they talking about? What are they plotting? I have to put up with this crap from Sara Logan because she can take my money, but you, Lacy? Not gonna happen. Your little conspiracy that you have going with this little freakshow accomplice of yours ends here and now. You’re gonna agree to my title shot, my real shot, or the next time I find you in the parking lot I’m going to introduce you and your little friend to Buttercup’s tire iron.
Casey throws the microphone into the center of the ring and heads to the back.
Gemma Foster: Lacy is NOT going to like what Casey had to say here tonight. We hear from her on Breakout and she had choice words for Rune about the idea that she and Manic were working together.
Grey got to the top of the ramp and the crowd roared as Lacy Nelson walked out onto the stage. She held the title up and pushed it in the face of Grey. Grey pushed it away and Nelson pulled the legs out from Casey and started to unload with mounted punches.
Scott Parker: Pandemonium here on the stage!
Grey and Nelson rolled around the stage and threw wild punches at each other. They were eventually pulled apart and Nelson shouted “You want a shot? You got it!” as the fans cheered.
Gemma Foster: I think Lacy just told Casey she can have a title shot!
Casey pointed at Lacy before she was pulled to the back.
AJ Adams Vs. Noavrra
The Start: Noavrra came down to the ring first to cheers from the fans and moved around the ring as we got stills from Next Level: Revolution and a few close attempts where Noavrra almost captured the National Championship. She was focused and had her eyes locked on AJ Adams as he walked out to the stage. AJ was in street gear and clearly not dressed to compete. He had a microphone in one hand and he just looked down at the ground before filling speaking.
AJ Adams: I forfeit.
He dropped the microphone and walked to the back as the crowd let out gasps of confusion and Noavrra was announced as the winner.
WINNER: Noavrra via forfeit
Avanzando
We move backstage where Kevin Olson stands by with Tia Santos. For once, before a match, we see her out of her usual funeral garb and face paint. Instead, she’s in her ring gear with her skull bandana over her face and the hood to her vest drawn up. Underneath it and over her gear top is a sleeveless “House Crowley” tee. The Empire Extreme Championship rests over her shoulder as she stands, silently watching the camera. Beside her, Kevin begins the interview.
Kevin Olson: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Kevin Olson, here. I’m standing here with the reigning and defending Extreme Champion of Empire Wrestling. She is the Saint of Killers, Tia Santos. Tia, at Next Level: Revolution, you made a statement for the ages. You successfully defended your title against Kaito Hirano of Dishonor. He and his colleagues are unable to challenge for this title for as long as you hold it. Do you have any comments on that?
Tia shifts in place as an offscreen interpreter translates Kevin’s words. When he finishes, Tia lets out a mix between a scoff and a chuckle. The interpreter translates to Kevin for her as she speaks in Spanish.
Tia Santos: I could go on to beat a dead horse and tell Kaito Hirano that I told him so. I could reiterate that he failed his entire team and now, because of him, they’ve had an opportunity taken away from them. He and his dogs may have their sights set on Kamila’s National Championship, now, but the world saw us up the ante at Revolution. They saw what happens when you try to go against otherworldly forces. As hard as you may be able to hit, we hit back harder and we always have a trick up our sleeve. Sometimes small...heh...sometimes big.
Tia’s eyes gleam under her hood and over her bandana. The mention of Kamila’s brother appearing and evening out the playing field against Dishonor at the PPV has her in an almost gleeful mood. One we often don’t see her in. Kevin nods before continuing.
Kevin Olson: Unexpected, indeed. Now, Tia, as of today, you have held onto the Extreme Championship for two hundred and twenty nine days with seven successful defenses. Tonight, you’re looking for your eighth defense, however, you have quite the challenge ahead of you in one, Alicia Monroe.
Tia chuckles again and her hand comes up quickly. Kevin flinches but Tia just takes the microphone out of his hand and looms over him.
Tia Santos: Don’t worry, Senor Olson. As much as I look down upon you and your ilk, I am not going to strike you. I am not as pitiful to strike a non combatant. Nor am I a temperamental child like the little girl who laid hands on you during an interview. Yes, Senorita Monroe, I am speaking of you.
Tia turns from Kevin and looks right into the camera again, holding the mic up at an angle as her voice remains eerily calm yet her body language gives hints as to how fired up and ready she is for tonight.
Tia Santos: You have been in this business longer than I have. I will acknowledge that, but do you know something? So has every other opponent that I have stepped into the ring with since coming to Empire. I am still the new arrival, running through the veterans of this industry. Kaito Hirano. Jason Evans. Austin Scott. Molly Hatchet. AJ Adams. Riley Rouse. Fighters. Warriors. While I look down upon them in general, I will not deny their prowess. Yet still, I stand here triumphant after every challenge set before me. Such is the way of I, the Saint of Killers. What is it that makes you so different that I should consider you anything other than another soul to be ripped from a lifeless husk at the end? Let us be honest, chiquita. Your cousin failed to capture the World Championship from Lacy Nelson. You’d love nothing more than to pick up her slack and bring some gold home. All that is going to happen? Senor Olson, hold this, please.
Tia shoves the microphone back into Kevin’s hands as she wraps the Extreme Title around her waist, clasping it in the front then turning it around so the center plate is facing out front. She snatches the microphone back from Kevin and slaps the plate with her other hand.
Tia Santos: Your little ass is simply going to be known as, “numero ocho.”
Tia tosses the microphone up over her shoulder and Kevin barely catches it as she storms off the set. Kevin watches her go with wide eyes and lets out a low whistle.
Kevin Olson: Gemma, Scott. Back to you two. Whoo!
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
David Slayton Vs. Kamila “Ember” Rose (c)
The Start: Slayton came out first and was fired up and moved around the stage before throwing his hand up to some pyro. He ran the ropes once in the ring and it was time for his opponent to enter. Rose entered in her black and white face paint on the lower half of her face. She had dug down deep for her “Ember” persona and stood on the stage with the National Title in her hand. She showed it off with a head tilt and made her way to the ring. She climbed inside to the ring and the match was announced. Slayton quickly used his size advantage by flipping Ember to the mat and locked in a side headlock. Ember was able to slip out and get to her feet and Slayton was there with clubbing blows and a knee to her gut. Slayton dropped Ember with a clothesline and she rolled up to her feet and was driven to the mat with a belly to belly slam.
The Match: Slayton was able to use his size advantage for most of the match and had control. He looked for a neckbreaker but Ember was able to counter into a backslide pin for two. Both competitors popped to their feet and Ember caught Slayton with a dropkick. Ember charged and hit Slayton with a running senton. Ember and Slayton got to their feet and Ember hit a springboard into a bulldog. They both quickly got back up and Ember sent Slayton into the corner. She charged and hit a big corner splash. Ember was fired up as she turned back to Slayton and looked for a second splash but Slayton lifted her up and over the top rope to the apron. Slayton looked to knock Ember off the apron but he ran into a forearm to the face. She went to the top rope and then dove and took him down with a hurricanrana! Ember looked for a cover but only got two before Slayton kicked out. Slayon was seated and was hit with a big kick to the back. He started to get up but was driven into the mat with a blockbuster. Ember rolled Slayton over and locked in an armlock but Slayton grabbed the ropes for his first rope break. Slayton got to his feet and caught Ember as she looked for a crossbody. He connected with a scoop slam and locked in a figure four! Ember was in the middle of the ring but she refused to tap out.
The End: Ember inched her way over to the ropes and was able to use her first rope break. Slayton let go of the hold at four and got to his feet. Ember rolled out to the apron and adjusted her knee pads before getting back into the ring. She stood and ducked a clothesline attempt from Slayton. Ember hit a double knee backbreaker and locked in Black Rose (Banks Statement)! Slayton was able to turn himself and got his foot on the ropes for his second rope break. Both competitors got to their feet and Slayton caught Ember with the Full Effect (Sweet Chin Music) out of nowhere! Ember got her hands up and was able to block part of it. Slayton grabbed the ropes and wanted to hit her with a second. The fans started to boo as Kasey Kash jumped onto the apron and spun Slayton around and hit him with a rope hung stunner! He then jumped into the ring and hit Slayton with a ripcord knee strike as the referee called for the bell.
WINNER: David Slayton via disqualification @ 14:41; STILL EW NATIONAL CHAMPION KAMILA ROSE
Kash stood over Slayton and spit on him before jumping out of the ring as Ember went for Kash for interrupting the match. He pointed to her title and then motioned for it around his waist as she held it up.
Angel Kash Vs. Jason Evans
Jason Kash and Austin Scott came out to the stage first and didn’t go to the ring. "Superficial" by Heidi Montang started to play and out walked Angel Kash and Summer Page. The two teams met on the stage and got in each other’s faces. Kash slapped Evans and all hell broke loose as they started to brawl.
Gemma Foster: I don’t think Dishonor came here to compete tonight. They want a FIGHT.
The fight quickly spilled into the backstage area as Page smacked Evans’ face off a wall. Scott pushed Kash over a table and then started to brawl with Page. Kash was up and jumped on the back of Scott and landed strikes to the head. Scott headbutt Page and then flipped Kash off his back. Evans came flying off some crates and took out Page and Kash. Kash got up and locked Evans in the Liquidation (Triangle choke armbar)! Trainers finally got between the two teams and broke things up.
Scott Parker: We’re on a collision course for a Social Elite versus Dishonor match up.
Kash and Page flaunted the titles in the faces of Dishonor as they were pulled away.
EXTREME CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Alicia Monroe Vs. Tia Santos (c)
The Start: Monroe came out to the stage and carried a steel chair in hand. She tossed it into the ring as trash cans, stop signs, and kendo sticks were scattered around the ring. She rolled inside and Tia Santos walked out onto the stage. She emerged from a cloud of smoke and wore the Extreme Championship strapped across her chest. She made her way down to the ring and climbed up the steps. She jumped into the ring and showed off the title as the match was announced. She handed off the title and Monroe quickly struck with right hands and clubbed the back of Santos. Monroe drove a knee into the gut of Santos and tossed her to the mat. Monroe looked for a jumping senton and Santos got her knees up into Monroe’s back. Santos and Monroe were up. Monroe looked for a swinging neckbreaker but Santos kept spinning and was able to counter with a reverse DDT. Santos rolled to her feet and Monroe was up and Santos looked for an enziguri but Monroe ducked it.
The Match: Monroe grabbed a chair and drove it into the gut of Santos before slamming it onto her back. Monroe then hit Santos with a Russian leg sweep onto the chair! Monroe went into a cover but Santos kicked out right at two. Monroe pulled Santos up and looked for a chair shot but Santos was able to dodge it. Santos hit the ropes and connected with a leaping clothesline, forcing Monroe to drop the chair. Both competitors got to their feet and Santos hit Monroe with a Death Valley Driver onto the chair! Monroe rolled out of the ring before Santos could make the cover. Santos went to the top rope and readied herself before diving with Muerta Caída ([Dead Drop] Torpedo Plancha)! Santos crashed onto Monroe as the fans cheered her on. Santos pulled Monroe up and rolled her into the ring before sliding in after her and right into a cover. Monroe kicked out at two, causing Santos to smile. Santos pulled Monroe up to her feet but was speared into the corner. Monroe pulled Santos in and delivered Free Bird (Running Bulldog)! Monroe exited the ring and tossed in a trash can and lid before getting back into the ring. Monroe wanted to hit another Free Bird, this time onto the trash can, but Santos countered and planted her feet. She looked for a German suplex but Monroe flipped behind her and landed on her feet.
Gemma Foster: Back and forth these two go!
Santos turned and was hit with a running knee strike! Monroe grabbed the trash can and put it on Santos and went to the top rope. Monroe pointed at Santos and hit the Phoenix Dive (Swanton Bomb)! Monroe grabbed at her back and then pushed the trash can away and covered and got a two count as Santos kicked out. Monroe grabbed the trash can lid and waited for Santos to stand before cracking it over her skull. Santos smiled and slapped her own face and told Monroe to hit her again. Santos roared and kicked Monroe in the gut before rocking her with a kick to the side of her head.
The End: Monroe staggered backwards and looked for a clothesline but Santos was able to counter with her Danze de la Araña ([Dance of the Spider] Tia performs the spider walk to throw off her opponent. She then thrust her body up and strikes them with a handstand like pele kick to the head. She immediately follows up with a mule kick and rolls forward. As the opponent falls back on their butt, Tia comes running in with a basement dropkick). Santos jumped up to the second turnbuckle and then the top and came flipping back with a moonsault! She covered Monroe and was shocked when she kicked out at two.
Scott Parker: Alicia Monroe with more fight left in her!
Santos quickly pulled Monroe up and moved the hair from her face. Monroe fell to a knee and landed a punch to Santos’ gut. Santos hit her with a vicious chop to the chest and then a knee strike to the head. Santos pulled Monroe in and delivered the Beso de Muerte ([Kiss of Death] Dream DDT) and causally covered Monroe for the pinfall.
WINNER AND STILL EW EXTREME CHAMPION: Tia Santos via pinfall @ 16:38
The Aftermath: After the match, Santos pulled herself up and shouted into the camera as she was handed her championship. Tia slapped the plate of the title and put it on her shoulder.
Gemma Foster: Tia Santos may never lose that championship, Scott.
Scott Parker: She racks up another title defense here tonight and claims another soul.
The show ends with Santos on the second rope holding her title.
