Episode #08 - March 17, 2021
The Open
The show opened with a video package showing clips of the National Championship match at Next Level: Revolution. We got a shot of Slayton in the air before he crashed down with a frog splash and a pin over Kasey Kash. The next shot was Kash driving a knee into the skull of Slayton. Coleman jumping in the air for her Superwoman Punch was shown next before a shot of Kamila Rose dumping her over the top and jumping onto Kash.
The next couple shots showed a transformed Rose later in the night. Scott Parker and Gemma Foster wondered what this meant for Rose. Would we see this new side of Rose all the time? Or did she dig down deep for it?
Logan Burgess Vs. Gio DeLuca
The Start: DeLuca walked out to the stage first with his signature microphone in hand and cut a promo on the way to the ring.
Gio DeLuca: Here we go once again. You know what I hate? Tonight there’s another new face in Empire Wrestling and Sara Logan or the powers that be think it’s best to see if they can measure up to me. The last person to do that finally tucked his tail between his legs and left the company. News flash, AJ Jenkynx is done. My opponent tonight? He’s going to be the next no one.
Burgess made his way to the ring quickly with DeLuca in the ring and climbed inside. The bell rang and the two men locked up quickly. Burgess hit hard right hands and then a knee to the gut of DeLuca before he tossed him into the corner. Burgess charged and hit a big corner clothesline before following it up with a bulldog to the center of the ring. Burgess got to his feet and slowly moved around the ring, soaking it in.
The Match: He pulled DeLuca up to his feet and DeLuca caught him with an uppercut. DeLuca raked the eyes of Burgess and got a warning from the referee before he dropped him with a DDT. Burgess got to his feet and was taken down with a slingblade. DeLuca went to the top rope and hit a flying elbow drop and covered for what was just a one count before Burgess kicked out. Both men were to their feet and DeLuca landed a kick to the gut. He ran off the ropes and Burgess tossed DeLuca in the air and caught him with a Samoan drop! DeLuca started to sit up and was rocked with hard kicks to the chest. He was finally able to stand and took a hard elbow to the face. Burgess sent DeLuca into the ropes and met him with a leaping clothesline. He looked for a cover but DeLuca kicked out at two.
The End: Burgess quickly pulled DeLuca up and pulled him in for a powerbomb. He lifted DeLuca up but DeLuca was able to flip over Burgess’ back into a sunset flip and covered for two! Both men popped up to their feet and DeLuca looked for a crossbody but was caught and driven to the mat with a powerslam. DeLuca staggered up to his feet and Burgess hit him with his Heart Failure (Fairy Tale Ending) and covered for the victory.
WINNER: Logan Burgess via pinfall @ 11:03
The Aftermath: Burgess stood over DeLuca and posed before we cut away.
War Cry
Tick. Tock.
Tick. Tock.
The sound of a clock going to and fro echoed throughout the unusually quiet backstage area, the clean, crisp, click of the repetition cut through the still air like a knife. Was it truly quiet? Or was it disquiet? Either or, there Valdis Graves, the “Skjaldmaer” sat. Powerful legs crossed at the thigh, chin up, back straight, strong arms crossed beneath her considerable bust. There was a regality in how she carried herself, those eyes of hers right on the camera.
Skjaldmaer: Skol.
Her greeting, her war cry, probably what she’d say if she was a dang Pokemon, but here she was, nonetheless, saying it all the same.
Skjaldmaer: I conquered at OATH, only to be further conquest by their sudden hiatus, and here I am at Empire to craft just that. I promise you, Empire, what I promised OATH. I promise to show all of you what a real Viking, what a real Skjaldmaer, what a real warrior looks like. I promise you blood and victory, I promise you that if you follow my lead, our path will end in glory.
And then, just like that, a smile began to creep across her features as she uncrossed her legs and put her elbows on her knees as she leaned in.
Skjaldmaer: And I promise, it will be glory that you can be proud of. It will be a victory that we can hold our heads up high when remembering. Stand with me, march with me. Lift your shields high in the shield wall, and scream at our foes to hit us with everything they have.
Sliding down from her seat on that wooden reel, she grunted, smacked her chest, and yelled “SKOL!” once more, before making her exit, stage left.
Summer Page Vs. Austin Scott
The Start: Sumner Page came out with her Tag Team Title around her waist with Angel Kash beside her. The two made their way to the ring and posed with the titles. Austin Scott came to the ring with Jason Evans. The two climbed into the ring and got right in the face of Page and Kash before they rolled out of the ring. Evans jumped out and Page climbed back in after a few seconds. The match started with the two locking up and Scott powering Page to the corner. He drove his knees into her gut and then rocked her with a big uppercut. He scooped her and connected with a fallaway slam, causing her to roll out of the ring.
The Match: Page shouted at the referee to make Scott back up so that she could get back into the ring. She climbed back in and Scott charged but ran into a kick to the chest as he looked for a spear. Page hit a lifting knee on Scott and then ran the ropes before coming back with a blockbuster. Page pulled Scott up but he pushed her away. She charged and ducked under a clothesline and quickly turned. She jumped onto his back and locked in the In Your Dreams (Sleeper). Scott fell to a knee as Page had it locked in tight. He was able to flip her over and broke the hold. Page got to her feet and turned right into Straight Whiskey (Running lariat)! Page started to stand but Scott took her right back down with the Full Throttle (Inverted Overdrive). He covered and was able to get a two count before she kicked out. Angel Kash pounded on the mat to cheer on Page. Scott pulled Page up and lifted her onto his shoulder as he set up for the Ace in the Hole (Rikishi Driver). Page slipped off and landed on her feet.
The End: Page jumped up and hit a backstabber on Scott and then rolled right into Spoiled Rotten (Banks Statement). Page pulled back on Scott but he wouldn’t tap out. He was able to turn himself and got Page’s shoulder pinned down and she let go to break up the pin attempt at two. Page and Scott quickly got to their feet and Page looked for a small package and Scott kicked out at two. Kash was able to hit Scott with her Golden Rule (Reverse Neckbreaker)! She was about to go for a cover but Jason Evans jumped onto the apron. Angel Kash jumped into the ring and the referee tried to get both Kash and Evans out of the ring. As they exited the ring, Scott rolled a distracted Page up and grabbed a handful of tights out of sight from the referee and picked up an assisted pinfall victory.
WINNER: Austin Scott via pinfall @ 12:33
The Aftermath: Scott celebrated for a moment as Page shouted at the referee about what happened. Scott laughed as he left and went to the back with Evans.
Skjaldmaer Vs. Kayla Taylor
The Start: Kayla Taylor made her way to the ring first and moved around from corner to corner. She said something to the ring announcer Kim Roberts. Roberts re-introduced Taylor as “the Talent” Kayla Taylor. The newest member of the roster, Skjaldmaer, made her way to the stage with a big, fur coat on. She removed it and pounded her chest before throwing her hands up to a big pyro burst. Skjaldmaer made her way to the ring and climbed inside.
The Match: Taylor skipped side to side and then around Skjaldmaer. She wanted to test the strength of her opponent and Skjaldmaer agreed. Skjaldmaer easily won the test as she pushed Taylor down with ease. Taylor rolled to her feet and shook it off and rolled her shoulders and wanted a second chance. As Skjaldmaer reached up, Taylor hit her with a hard kick to the gut. Taylor ran the ropes and was chased. She stopped and turned as Skjaldmaer kept running past her. Taylor turned back to Skjaldmaer coming back and was hit with Gungnir (Running Big Boot)! Skjaldmaer lifted Taylor up to her feet before hitting a series of knee strikes before slamming her to the mat. Taylor tried to get to her feet and was hit with a snap suplex. Skjaldmaer lifted Taylor from the mat right into a belly to back suplex as the crowd cheered the feat of strength. Taylor climbed to her feet and tried to strike but her hand was caught. Skjaldmaer applied a hammerlock before hitting the Dáinsleif (Hammerlock Lariat).
The End: Skjaldmaer looked a leg and Taylor was just able to kick out before she rolled out of the ring. Skjaldmaer didn’t wait long before exiting and chasing after Taylor. Taylor was able to push Skjaldmaer face first into the steel post on the outside. Taylor rolled her into the ring and quickly climbed inside. Taylor measured up Skjaldmaer and hit her with the Plan A (Shining Wizard)! Taylor covered and Skjaldmaer kicked out at one to the shock of Taylor. Taylor looked for Stamp It Out (Avada Kedavra superkick to knelt opponent) and Skjaldmaer blocked it. She stood and hit Taylor with Jörmungandr's Teeth (Dragon Suplex, followed up by a low kick to the head/jaw, into a Michinoku Driver) and hooked the leg, picking up a pinfall win.
WINNER: Skjaldmaer via pinfall @ 8:41
Put in the Work
The camera took us deep inside the Warehouse to the training area where we could see World Champion Lacy Nelson having finished up a workout. She was taking a few swigs of water before wiping sweat from her head with the towel around her shoulders.
Lacy Nelson: Over the last few months I’ve had to fight with a demon from my past. Someone that I thought I had left behind in a past life. This person kidnapped me and literally played with my mind, torturing and brainwashing me to try and make me forget this life. At one point I started to lose myself and I gave in just to make it stop. We saw it all play out like it was Days of Our Lives as FM tried to get me back from Manic. It became so much that I lost the person I love due to her feeling like this was her fault.
Lacy has sat down at this point and is shaking her head.
Lacy Nelson: Hey, Rune. Screw you. To even insinuate that Manic and I “have each other” to “watch our backs” and that we’re “working together”? It makes me literally sick to my stomach. I’ve had to go to therapy every other day to basically deprogram myself from HER. Me freezing in the match? It’s because I’m TERRIFIED of her having some way inside my head.
She shivers and takes another quick drink of her water before starting to stretch for a few toe touches.
Lacy Nelson: I’m the champion for a reason. I earned the right to challenge for this title and I defeated one of the greatest champions to ever step foot into this Warehouse. Day in and day out I put in the work to be the champion. I’m here, almost every day, training in and out of the ring. I push myself to be better and better every time I step into the ring. That used to be you, Casey. I used to hear about Casey Grey running this gym and now, I rarely see her.
After a few toe touches, Lacy sits cross legged and takes a few deep breaths.
Lacy Nelson: Casey, you’d rather sit behind the rest of the Belles and complain about not “getting what you deserve”. Rune made the suggestion that you should’ve had them help you win the title. Really? That’s not you. Maybe you’re the one that needs to find yourself again.
Lacy shrugs and goes back to her breathing exercises as we cut away.
