The Road So Far...
Welcome to the Blazenwing Wrestling Federation! If you're reading this, you're either a) interested in joining our fine e-fed, or b) nosy as all hell. Regardless of which group you fall into, this thread will contain anything and everything you'll need to know about beginning your BWF journey.
But first, a history lesson...
A Look Back...
The Blazenwing Wrestling Federation was founded in July 2003 by Dave (yours truly), a guy who had suffered through egos and nasty people in e-fedding and simply wished to open a place where someone could just have fun without all of the B.S. politics that seem to dampen the majority of e-feds. Founded as a roleplay-based fed, BWF's first run lasted from July 2003 until May 2007 when, unfortunately, the same egos I founded BWF to escape from brought the e-fed down from within. It had a brief rebirth in September of 2007, but it closed for good (at the time) on January 1, 2008, following the planned final event, WrestleFest V.
A few years later, in February of 2011, BWF was relaunched as a branch of the Alliance of Wrestling Federations (AoWF) alongside the Pioneer Wrestling Association, REBEL Pro Wrestling and Victory Wrestling. The BWF was never truly welcomed into the close-knit AoWF family, and the company's big return lasted only a few brief months before being taken over and rebranded by BWF Hall of Famer Gabe Shelley as True Glory Wrestling.
After the disastrous 2011 run, I wondered if the BWF's time had come and gone and if it would ever again be the powerhouse of an e-fed it once was. I had to give it one more shot, and I did just that in early 2013, following a final falling out with the leadership of the AoWF. I decided to re-open BWF again, this time on its own boards like the old days. BWF reopened again in April of 2013 and it's been going ever since... but the credit for that lies not with myself, but with the amazingly talented writers who have decided to make BWF their home and help it once again become one of the greatest fake wrestling communities on the web. In August 2020, after a hiatus, BWF returned, instilled with a new energy and new resolve moving forward. In January 2021, BWF officially formed the United Wrestling Alliance (UWA) alongside Empire Wrestling.
...And A Look Ahead
That brings us to today. Once a roleplay fed, BWF has become a fantasy angle fed over time, culminating in an official switchover in March of 2014. What's the difference, you may ask? Well, in a roleplay fed, BWF superstars would write competitive promos in order to "win" matches. Their own writing ability is what made or broke them when trying to attain glory within the halls of BWF.
In a fantasy angle fed, however, all of the results are predetermined by the booker (who, at least for now, happens to be me) and occasionally, the superstars involved. Things like board activity, storyline management and enthusiasm certainly factor in to decision making, but ultimately, the power lies in my hands.
Still confused? Another fed with the same setup, former affiliated federation Strife Championship Wrestling, put the whole thing quite succinctly and, with their permission, I've added their description to our own below:
This federation was created by people who love the e-fed world but don't have a lot of time to commit to deadlines or reviews. The concept is you make or submit a character and the writers of the shows will come up with angles and pushes based upon their own judgement. If you have angle ideas they can be submitted and took into consideration.
Is BWF For You?
I'm sure at this point, some of you are wondering why you would sign up for a fed like this, when the control has been essentially taken away from you; because personally, I think that's what makes BWF one of the most exciting e-feds around. Promos, blogs, tweets and such are all strongly encouraged by active superstars, but they become reactionary rather than progressive. Promos become less about "why you're going to beat so and so" and more about your character's personal reactions to results and other character's promos.
Much like a fan watches a football game and gets invested even though they don't know what's going to happen, so too do the superstars of BWF. The goal is that everybody has something to talk about in the days between results. If the participants are kept interested and engaged, the BWF community as a whole will prosper.
The Blazenwing Wrestling Federation isn't going to be a fit for everybody, and that's alright. But, for those who do sign with BWF, you will get an experience that aims to be as stress-free and ego-free as possible, in addition to being every bit as engaging and exciting as a traditional roleplay e-fed, albeit with less focus on the competitive aspect.
Are You Ready?
If you've read this far and you're still interested, allow me to be the first to officially welcome you to the BWF. Check out Da Rules, then head over to the BWF Application Board and start creating your superstar. I, and everyone else here, look forward to having you as a part of the BWF family. You won't regret it.
See you in the ring!
