Episode #85 - June 11, 2022
Hanako Vs. Gabrielle Montgomery Vs. Aislin Finn
After the breaking news that Lacy Nelson had been hospitalized we opened the show with triple threat action. Hanako seemed distracted from the start. Finn had hard strikes for both women to open things up and caught each with stiff kicks. Hanako tried to pick up the pace with a cross body and took out both Montgomery and Finn. Finn rocked Hanako with Crann Tabhaill (Springboard Corkscrew Roundhouse Kick) and took her out of the ring. Montgomery ducked a clothesline from Finn and hit a hard blow to the back of the head. She caught Finn with a beautiful Head Over Heels (diving Hurricanrana) from the top rope. The brawling style of Montgomery kept Hanako grounded and matched well with Finn. Montgomery tried to put things away with Double D-DT (Future Shock DDT) on Finn but Hanako came off the top with a dropkick. Hanako started to hit jumping clotheslines and had Montgomery down. She looked for Geitō (Starship pain) but Montgomery moved out of the way. Finn tried to roll Hanako up but she rolled through and hit a kick to the head of Finn. Montgomery hit Hanako with the Double D-DT (Future Shock DDT) and covered for a pinfall.
WINNER: Gabrielle Montgomery via pinfall @ 13:03
Jason Evans Vs. “Reverend” Martin West
This opened with some cat and mouse as Evans kept ducking out of the ring, hoping to frustrate West. Hirano jumped on the apron as Evans tried to sneak up behind West but West turned and hit a big lariat that flipped Evans inside out. West was relentless as he attacked Evans. Evans chest was bright red and cracked as West assaulted it with chops and strikes. Evans eventually was able to whip West into the corner and hit a big splash. It looked as if the match was about to turn when Evans was able to deliver the Fate's Dagger (Falcon Arrow). Evans started to climb to the top for some high flying but West ran up the corner and started to deliver hard headbutts to the side of the head of Evans. Evans fell to the mat and West hit Exorcism (Diving Headbutt). There was a near fall as West went for a cover for only two. Evans tried to battle back and looked for a hurricanrana but West flipped him off and to his feet. A quick kick to the gut opened Evans up and West hit the Baptism (Cradle Piledriver). He covered and picked up the victory.
WINNER: Martin West via pinfall @ 13:44
EXTREME DIVISION MATCH
Gio DeLuca Vs. Kaito Hirano
The winner of this match would be going on to face Manic in a number one contender’s match for the Extreme Championship. Hirano unloaded with hard kendo stick shots to DeLuca as he chased him around the ring. DeLuca rolled out of the ring to get separation and Hirano was right there on him. Hirano swung for the fences but missed as DeLuca ducked and he connected with the post on the outside. DeLuca hit a jumping neckbreaker on the outside and pulled Hirano up. DeLuca landed strikes and tried to stay on Hirano before rolling him into the ring. DeLuca grabbed a chair and rolled into the ring. He ran at Hirano and swung, missing, as the chair bounced off the top rope and back into his face. Hirano hit Dishonored (Burning Hammer GTS) and this thing was over after a pinfall.
WINNER: Kaito Hirano
The Road to Victorem
“Lights Out” by POD kicked up and the fans erupted as AJ Adams came out to the stage. He looked around and had a microphone in hand as his music cut out.
AJ Adams: I’m going to make this short and sweet. The last time I was out here I called out Casey Grey after beating Alicia Monroe. I want your contracted World Championship match and I don’t care what I have to do to get it, Casey. I’ll beat you in any match of your choosing because no one is going to stop me from becoming EW World Champion.
He pauses for a moment as the camera starts to get close.
AJ Adams: Once I beat Casey I’m coming for you, Tia. Hold that championship tight because this isn’t going to be like our last meeting. No. I will add to the legacy of AJ Adams by defeating Tia Santos. Come Victorem, I will be the NEW Empire Wrestling World Champion.
Adams drops the microphone and heads to the back.
Marilyn Lee Cross Vs. Kayla Taylor
The Primetime Champion wanted to lock up with Taylor to kick things off and Taylor was happy to oblige. Taylor and Cross exchanged holds as they both tried to gain the upperhand. A quick palm strike from Cross let her hit a swinging neckbreaker on Taylor. Taylor had done her homework and was able to dodge a few of the strong strikes from Cross. Cross looked for her Mary Go Round (Discus Big Boot) but Taylor was able to dodge before being able to hit Plan A (Shining Wizard). It looked like it might be over when Taylor hit the Atonement (Spin Sit-out Powerbomb) but Cross proved tough as she kicked out. The Primetime Champion was fired up as she forced her way to her feet and blocked a DDT attempt and pushed Taylor away. Cross hit a nice combo of Catch Your Breath (Striking Spear) and then Knee Harvey Oswald (Running Knee to the side of an opponent's head). Taylor was dazed as she tried to stand and stumbled, which allowed Cross to deliver John Wilkes Boot (Running Yakuza Kick to the back of the head). Cross hooked both legs and got a pinfall.
WINNER: Marilyn Lee Cross via pinfall @ 17:41
EW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
The 323 (Miguel Perez & Alejandro Torres) Vs. Heroes Never Die (Josh Goldstein & Crimson Ghost) (c)
The challengers came out first and quickly ran up the ramp to brawl with the champs as they came out. The fans ate it up as the four men battled around the ring before Ghost and Perez rolled into the ring. A series of exploder suplexes from Ghost had Perez reeling early on. The champions were able to isolate Perez in their corner and tagged in and out and kept the attack on. Goldstein hit a nice Code Red with a pin attempt for two. He looked for his Olé/Oy Vey! (Rope Walk Arm drag) but Perez was able to make him slip and he was hung up on the top rope. Torres hit the ring and hit a big running boot that knocked Goldstein out to the floor. Torres took control of the match with his power as he tossed Ghost around for a few moments. Goldstein got onto the apron and Torres looked for another boot but Goldstein side stepped it and hit a step up enziguri! Goldstein and Ghost hit Torres with Justice Served (Flapjack [Ghost] into a Sitout Facebuster [Goldstein]). Perez had made a blind tag and tossed Goldstein out of the ring and rolled Ghost up for two. Both men quickly got to their feet and Perez landed Green-Lighted (Jumping Complete Shot)! The former champs looked to retain the titles but as Perez went for a cover, Goldstein pulled him out of the ring. Torres looked to charge Goldstein on the outside and looked for CHIMUELO (Superman Punch [Translation: Toothless]) but Goldstein moved and he hit Perez!
Goldstein hit Torres with the Chutzpah Boot (Running Yakuza kick) and pulled Perez up and rolled him into the ring. Perez was up and Ghost made a tag before hitting Scarlet Skull Splitter (Springboard Forearm Smash). The champions then hit their Lightning Strikes Twice (The Blazer hits his Chutzpah Boot to the opponent in their corner before Ghost hit the Red Dead Removal)! The cover was made and the champions retained the gold.
WINNERS AND STILL EW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: Heroes Never Die (Josh Goldstein & Crimson Ghost)
