Personal History: Minoru Tanahashi is what many would call a black sheep, but since he refuses to be called a sheep, he proudly refers to himself as the black lion. He was a promising talent when he began in the Gold Lion Grappling dojo, in large part thanks to his uncle Tomohiro Tanahashi. Within six months he was kicked out and had to start over and over. It continued to happen until he found a company that liked his rebellious spirit. He debuted in 2012 as a young lion and quickly got a reputation for being exciting even with his limited moveset. He started to rise up and won their Young Lion trophy, beating 3 others in a round-robin tournament. This gave him a bit of an attitude and after a few more months he was sent away on an excursion. He ended up spending three years traveling the world wrestling for whatever place would take him for as long as they could stand him. He came back to Japan in 2017 and looked to make a big splash in his home company. He captured their Openweight title two months after his return, had a decent reign, then as he was poised to go for the heavyweight title, he was run out after it was learned he had been in relationships with 3 of the roster members family members. He had a successful US Run in 2020 and 2021 before returning to his native Japan for family and personal reasons.
