Episode #66 - February 20, 2021
Johnny Draco Vs. Josh Williams
The Start: Draco came to the ring with Tiffany Lynn Page as Williams had his brother Jack. Williams got in the face of Draco early and popped him with a right hand and then a spinning back elbow to the head. Draco fell out of the ring and was checked on by Page. Williams looked for a tope suicida but Draco moved out of the way just in time. Draco started to stomp on Williams’ shoulder and then pulled him to his feet before quickly slamming him into the steel steps.
The Match: Once both men got into the ring it was clear that the shoulder of Williams was bothering him and Draco focused most of his attack on it. Draco tried to lock in a cobra clutch but Williams was able to fight back and hit an enziguri. Williams hit the ropes as Draco stood and caught him with a sling blade takedown. Williams hit the turnbuckle and delivered a jumping second rope moonsault and connected. He covered but was only able to get a two count before Draco kicked out.
The End: After Draco kicked out, Jack Williams jumped onto the apron and distracted the referee. Josh Williams started to remove padding from the top turnbuckle. Page slid into the ring and hit Williams with a low blow as Jack jumped down. She slid out of the ring and Draco rolled Josh up with a school boy and picked up a win.
WINNER: Johnny Draco via pinfall @ 9:09
Draco and Page celebrated on the outside of the ring before leaving.
Threatening Posture
Kevin Olson waits in the ring as “Hell’s Bells” by Sara Matera begins to play over the sound system. Casey Grey, Alicia Monroe, and Karli Frost step out of the back. Annabelle Daboia steps out a few seconds later. The four of them make their way down to the ring and climb the steps. Casey walks up to Kevin while the others spread out around the ring. After a moment the music stops and Kevin begins talking.
Kevin Olson: Casey, it looks like you’re going to get your shot at Manic at the next Breakout. Can I get your thoughts on that? How are you going to deal with her in your match?
Casey Grey: You think that’s what I’m worried about? Manic? No, Kevin. I’m going to paralyze Manic and giggle while she drags herself out of here on her elbows. No, my issue is with Sara Logan.
Kevin Olson: Oh, great. What now?
Casey Grey: I’m still waiting on her consideration to be named the number one contender for Lacey Nelson’s title. I mean, how long can it take for her to make a decision? I was improperly eliminated from the Top of the World Battle Royal, and then I beat Harper Blake in a match where she set the stipulations herself. It’s not hard. She can pop her little face up on that big screen right there and tell me and everyone else what we already know. I deserve my shot and I better get it. We've been through this before when we reopened in 2018. Things can get ugly, Kevin.
Kevin Olson: Like...how ugly?
Casey Grey: Ugly like "you don't want to know how ugly", Kevin.
Kevin Olson looks a little nervous, but continues.
Kevin Olson: O...Okay. So, that’s your main concern, and I have to admit that it's kind of my main concern now, too. But I have to circle back around to Manic. What about your match with her?
Casey Grey: Fine. Here’s what’s going to happen. I’m going to beat Manic so bad that her own dog won’t recognize her. When I say she’ll be lucky to walk out of here what I mean is she isn’t going to walk out of here.
Kevin Olson: You have a pretty strong sense of animosity regarding her. Why?
Casey Grey: Look, Kevin. Everything was okay. I was fine when she’s doing all of her craziness around here. I’m at least a little bit comfortable with crazy. But she gets in a match with Alicia and out comes a pair of scissors? Nope. No way. Nobody threatens my sister except me. She thinks she’s going to cut somebody’s hair? I’m going to rip hers out by the roots.
Kevin Olson: Okay. Any final thoughts? Anything to add?
Casey Grey: I’m afraid not, Kevin. I’ve already made enough threats tonight, who knows how the cops might react to another one. See you next week.
“Hells Bells” begins to play again as Casey, Alicia, Karli, and Annabelle return to the back.
Angel Kash w/ Summer Page Vs. Alejandro Torres w/ Miguel Perez
The Start: This was set to be a match of two very different styles as the hard hitting, powerful Torres came down to the ring first. He and Perez stood in the ring as the Tag Team Champions, Social Elite, came down to the ring next. Summer Page and Angel Kash posed at the top of the ramp with their titles before coming down. Perez and Torres jumped out of the ring before the Social Elite made it to the ring and the four started to brawl. Torres hit Kash with a Gravedigger (Uranage) onto the announce table! Page came jumping off the apron and hit both Torres and Perez with a crossbody. She rolled to her feet and helped Kash to her feet. Kash grabbed her title and cracked Perez in the face with it when he stood. Torres fought off both Page and Kash as trainers ran down to separate the two teams.
NO CONTEST
The Aftermath: Kash and Page taunted the 323 as they were escorted up the ramp.
AJ Adams Vs. David Slayton
The Start: There was a lot of buzz for tonight’s main event match as “Lights Out” by POD kicked up and out jogged AJ Adams. He came out with the BWF International Championship around his waist. He took a knee and threw his arms out before jumping up and heading to the ring. The fans were just as excited when David Slayton came out to the ring in his long coat and pounded his chest and pointed to the sky before making his way down to the ring. The two circled each other in the ring as Adams handed off his title. Slayton tossed his jacket and the two quickly locked up. Adams landed wild blows but Slayton quickly started to battle back. Adams had to duck a clothesline and tried to lock in his Lights Out (Tazzmission) but Slayton rolled forward and was able to break away with a smirk.
The Match: Slayton hit a big running forearm strike to take down Adams and then caught him with a German suplex as he started to stand. Slayton started to take control of the match with his takedowns and even was able to lock in the Firehawk Lock (Crossface) but Adams was able to get to the ropes and break the hold. Adams fought to his feet and fell into the corner. Slayton charged but ran into a boot to the face. Adams looked for Eat It (Fame-Asser) but Slayton dodged it and Adams landed on his feet. Adams had to quickly duck a clothesline and landed a kick to the gut before dropping Slayton with the Rough Landing (Blackheart Buster). Adams covered and got two before Slayton kicked out. The fans were enjoying the match and Adams was calling for the end. He pulled Slayton up for the Legacy Maker (Sister Abigail) but Slayton was able to spin away. Slayton jumped up and took Adams down with a flatliner. Slayton rolled right into a Fujiwara Armbar and Adams looked like he was able to tap but was able to get his foot on the bottom rope. Slayton couldn’t believe it at first but was ready to continue quickly. He pulled Adams up to his feet and delivered a chickenwing suplex! Slayton rolled into a cover and only got two before Adams was able to kick out. Slayton went to the top rope quickly but Adams was to his feet and met him in the corner. Adams ran up the corner and brought Slayton down with a superplex.
The End: Adams started to build up momentum after the superplex and then delivered his LA to NY (Sitout Inverted DDT). Adams covered and got two before Slayton kicked out. Adams stayed on Slayton and locked in Lights Out and dropped backwards. Slayton pushed off and flipped back, pinning Adams’ shoulders to the mat and got two as Adams let go of the hold. Both men got to their feet and Adams caught the foot of Slayton as he looked for the Full Effect (Sweet Chin Music). Adams spun Slayton around and hit a kick to the gut and looked for Break Stuff (Stunner) but Slayton pushed him away. Adams turned around and was rocked with the Full Effect! Slayton fell onto Adams and picked up the pinfall win.
WINNER: David Slayton via pinfall @ 19:43
The Aftermath: Slayton took a deep breath as he pulled the hair from his face and fell backwards as he put his arm up in victory. He pulled himself up and fell into the corner as he motioned for gold around his waist.
Challengers
“Come and Get It” by I Prevail started to play as the fans cheered while EW World Champion Lacy Nelson came out to the stage. He looked over his sunglasses hanging them on her shirt. She opened her leather “L2N” jacket and revealed the World Title around her waist. She made her way down to the ring and jumped up to the apron and climbed inside. She moved around and leaned over the top rope and threw a peace sign to the fans. She came back down and reached out of the ropes and was handed a microphone. Gemma Foster stood in the ring with her and was ready to talk.
Gemma Foster: Thank you for joining us tonight, Lacy. Two weeks ago on Breakout we saw you take on Kaito Hirano and pick up a big win. It was what happened after the match that had everyone talking as it’s clear that things between you and Manic are not over and now she’s coming after your title. She even attacked you on the last Hype in the backstage area. You also seem to be stuck in the middle of a growing situation between Manic and Casey Grey.
Lacy Nelson: With Manic it’s always games, Gemma. She saw that Casey Grey wanted this -
Lacy removed the title from her waist and held it up as she said that and then placed it back on her shoulder.
Lacy Nelson: - and started to play games with her. I know Casey Grey is one hell of a competitor but Manic isn’t afraid of anything she might threaten her with. With me, it’s personal. With Casey, it’s just fun and games.
Gemma Foster: Maybe you can take a second to explain to everyone why things with you and Manic are so personal.
Lacy puts down her microphone for a second and takes a deep breath. She clears her throat and pulls herself together.
Lacy Nelson: I don’t want to bore everything with a long winded story but Manic showed up because of FM Young. I don’t think it was a secret that the two of us were getting close and Manic, well, she didn’t like that. I know Manic from a past life and she came to ruin it. That meant trying to, I don’t know, corrupt me against FM, and now it means taking away my title.
Gemma Foster: When you say you knew her in a past life…
Lacy Nelson: I mean that we had a special relationship. L2N, LA to NY doesn’t just mean I moved here to pursue wrestling. I left a life behind me that I try not to think or talk too much about. Manic was part of that life. So I don’t care who Sara Logan and the Powers that Be put me up against, Gemma, because I’m not going to give this championship up any time soon. I see all the challengers and champions here in Empire Wrestling. I know that everyone is gunning for the World Championship. So, Casey, Manic, come get it.
The lights start to flicker and Nelson drops the microphone. There’s a screeching and static sound for a moment before the lights turn blue and Manic appears in the ring. Nelson turns around and the two exchange punches as the fans explode. Manic ducked a superkick from Nelson and then hit her with a neckbreaker. Casey Grey started to rush down to the ring and she and Manic came to blows next. Grey tried to lift Manic for the Racklash (Rack Attack) but Manic was able to struggle free and hit Casey with a spear. Manic was blindsided from behind by Nelson with a clubbing blow. Nelson was readying herself for a superkick but the lights flickered and Manic was gone. Nelson offered to help Grey up but Grey pulled herself up and snatched the World Title off the ground and looked at it a little too long for Lacy’s liking. Lacy reached down and took the title from her and the two stared at each other as we went off-air.
