EPISODE #4
LOCATION: Fiserv Forum - Milwaukee, Wisconsin
DATE: March 6, 2022
Liam Stewart: Welcome to Milwaukee - BWF Sunday Night Shockwave is on the air!
Riley Rouse: Liam, we have a hell of a show coming your way tonight.
Liam Stewart: That we do, Riley. The Happenstance Tournament kicks off, "Stutterfly" Katie Shelley goes one-on-one with the returning Risa Saito-Jackson, and in the main event, the BWF Intercontinental Championship will be decided in a Four Corners Elimination Match!
Riley Rouse: Speaking of which, I'm getting word from backstage that something's gone down with one of the competitors in that match.
Liam Stewart: Let's head to the back!
The camera moves backstage, where we find several referees and officials crowding around a freshly wounded Andi Seraph. The crowd clears a bit as BWF President David Slayton moves into the scene.
David Slayton: What the hell happened here?
Don McMichael, Senior BWF Interviewer, looks up.
Don McMichael: I was just about to interview Andi ahead of the Intercontinental Title match tonight, but right before we went on the air, a bunch of masked thugs showed up out of nowhere and laid this poor girl out.
David Slayton: Masked thugs? For real?
David sighs.
David Slayton: I don't suppose you have ANY idea who they were?
Don shakes his head.
Don McMichael: No idea, although one of them did spraypaint THAT on the wall while the other two beat on Miss Seraph.
The camera shifts to the left, where "OUTLAW JUSTICE" is seen spraypainted on the wall. Slayton shakes his head and sighs.
David Slayton: How's she doing? Is she gonna be okay?
One of the doctors shakes their head.
Doctor: She's not injured, but she's in no shape to compete tonight. That's a no-go.
Slayton facepalms for a moment.
David Slayton: Alright, alright... get her back into medical and make sure she's taken care of. Don, if you see anything more about this... Outlaw Justice... you let me know. I, meanwhile, am off to find a replacement for tonight's main event.
A pause.
David Slayton: I promised Milwaukee a Four Corners Elimination Match, and dammit, they're gonna get one.
Slayton exits the scene as the camera fades back to the ring.
HAPPENSTANCE TOURNAMENT
QUALIFYING MATCH
Christine Myers vs. Luke Marshall
The lights in the arena dim, a gold spotlight shines down on the ramp as the screen lights up with a massive charging bull running straight ahead almost ready to burst through the tron when the lights go completely out as “Get Up On My Level” by Mike Zombie Ft. Aja Elan begins to play. Gold lights flash to the beat with the first words of the song proclaiming “I'm a legend, I'm a god”
Unknown: PATION!
There’s a loud booming voice heard throughout the arena as the lights return to their dimmed status and we see one of BWF’s newest signings, TAURUS on the screen clad in a charcoal pinstriped suit, nice crisp clean white shirt, and a smile.
TAURUS: Good evening Milwaukee, land of beer, cheese, and heart failure. Obviously, I wasn’t going to show up in your cesspool of a town, but what better way to build more anticipation for my debut next week? The classic pre-recorded promo, where I talk about one of my absolute favorite subjects… ME!
He smirks, flashing that winning smile as he unbuttons his jacket and lays it across his large Les Contemporains Noir leather Envergure sofa as he strolls around his fairly large home, showing off a bit as he stops in front of the massive window that looks out on the pool.
TAURUS: Next week, I am stepping back into the ring and I will use whoever is put across from me to physically reinforce the message I want to send to the entire locker room tonight, especially those who are holding or fighting for Gold. Pay very close attention to everything I do and say, because I ain’t coming to BWF to make friends or have fun. I am coming to become a champion. I don’t expect to have a title match the first night in, or the second or third, hell I’m not even expecting one by the tenth night in. I have absolutely no problem climbing the ladder rung by bloody rung.
He stops, unbuttons his cuffs, and rolls his sleeves off, showing his massive forearms.
TAURUS: I'm not sure these screens do me justice, but next week everyone backstage, everyone in that arena, you will see what six feet eight inches and two hundred of eighty-five pounds of pure muscle and aggression looks like. You will all bear witness to THE Advanced Athlete and I can guarantee you that you do not want to miss a single second of it. Next week, BWF will see the arrival of something special. I’m not a once in a decade talent, not even once-in-a-generation, lifetime, or century. I am a once in a millennia level talent. So make sure you keep your eyes glued to BWF next week. You don’t wanna be the person that has to say they missed the arrival of TAURUS.
TAURUS stands tall in front of the large full window and pulls his shirt open, buttons popping off as he just shreds his shirt in half, his muscles bulging as he stares straight ahead, pure intensity and focus in his eyes as he flexes and the tron fades to black.
HAPPENSTANCE TOURNAMENT
QUALIFYING MATCH
Minka Carter vs. Logyn Bailey
We move backstage, where we see "The Manic Marvel" Ollie Linkoln preparing for his match later tonight against Sabrina Delgado. He turns his head as David Slayton walks into frame.
David Slayton: Hey, Ollie. Hey... um, raccoon.
Rocky squeaks and Ollie grins.
Ollie Linkoln: He says "Call me Rocky, boss man". What's up?
David shakes his head for a moment and continues.
David Slayton: Alright, I'm gonna be brief. We have a sudden, unexpected opening in tonight's Intercontinental Championship match. I want to offer the spot to you.
The crowd pops as Ollie's eyebrows raise.
Ollie Linkoln: No kidding? What's the catch?
David Slayton: No catch. Well, okay, one catch. No current titleholders in this year's Happenstance Tournament, so if you win the title, you're outta the tourney. BUT, you would then face Aislin Finn or whomever happens to be U.S. Champion at Happenstance for a future World Title opportunity instead.
Ollie thinks about it for a moment.
Ollie Linkoln: So, lemme get this straight. I get a shot at the Intercontinental Title tonight. If I win, I face the U.S. Champ at Happenstance, winner gets a World Title match. If I lose, I'm still in the Happenstance Tournament and nothing has changed from this moment right now?
David Slayton: Correct.
Ollie puts his hand out.
Ollie Linkoln: I'm in.
Slayton shakes his hand as the crowd cheers.
David Slayton: Good to hear it. Good luck later tonight, man. You've got some stiff competition.
Ollie Linkoln: That's nothing. Wait 'til they see my kicks.
David smirks and walks off as Ollie starts shadow-kicking the air, before Sunday Night Shockwave fades to commercial.
SINGLES MATCH
Risa Saito-Jackson w/ FM Young vs. Katie Shelley w/ Emily Corlen
Back in his office, David Slayton finally kicks back and cracks open an ice cold Mountain Dew Code Red (not a sponsor), turning his attention to the monitor in the corner about to air the main event. He takes a sip just as someone knocks at his door.
David Slayton: Come in!
The door opens and the crowd cheers as Sabrina Delgado walks into the office.
Sabrina Delgado: Hey, Dave!
David Slayton: Hey! Baby sis! Well, baby half-sis. Whatever. What's up, kiddo?
Sabrina Delgado: Uh, well, I just wanted to ask how come Ollie's in the Intercontinental Title Match tonight and not me? I mean, nothing against Ollie, he's a great competitor, but... I mean, I've actually HELD the Intercontinental Title before... well, I mean, it was the International Title when I had it, but that doesn't -
David holds a hand up.
David Slayton: Yeah, I know. Um... look, I considered you, I did. It was honestly down to the two of you. And, like, you both had big matches at Survival of the Sickest and, unfortunately, you both came up short in your matches...
Sabrina Delgado: Right, right, I was there. So, why did he get the shot instead of me? Did you flip a coin or something?
David Slayton: No... you fought a rookie, someone making her BWF debut, and lost. Hell, you lost in a match to get INTO this Intercontinental Title match. Ollie hadn't had an opportunity to qualify for it, and even though his team DID lose at Survival of the Sickest, he still managed to eliminate a former BWF World Champion in my good friend Gabe Shelley. So, yeah, between the two of you? I went with Ollie. It's nothing personal.
Sabrina considers this for a moment, then finally sighs.
Sabrina Delgado: I mean... yeah, I get where you're coming from. That's fair, I guess. Alright, thanks for letting me know.
Sabrina, a bit dejected, exits David's office and closes the door behind her. He briefly considers following, but decides against it as Shockwave fades to commercial.
