Episode #64 - January 23, 2021
Marilyn Lee Cross Vs. Johnny Draco
The Start: The Primetime Champion, MLC, carried the title on her shoulder as she made her way to the ring. Draco and Page were already in the ring waiting for her and MLC jumped into the ring. Cross showed off the title before the match started and handed it off.
The Match: Draco tried to open the match fast and furious with hard strikes and chops to MLC but she quickly fought him off with a big palm strike to the chest. She sent him into the corner and followed him with a handspring back elbow to the face that she then went right into a bulldog. MLC was fired up as she moved around the ring and took control of most of this bout. She was able to catch Draco with a snap duplex that seemed to take the wind right out of him. Page jumped onto the apron to try and check on her client and the referee tried to get her off. Draco quickly got to his feet and raked the eyes of MLC and rolled her up with a small package for two before MLC kicked out. Draco then quickly dropped MLC with a DDT as she was still rubbing her eyes.
The End: Draco had control of the match after the rake of the eyes. He started to wear down MLC for a bit. MLC ducked a clothesline however and caught Draco with her Mary Go Round (Discus Big Boot). MLC started to run the ropes and Page reached in and grabbed her boot to trip her up. Draco was up and looked for the Regime Drop (Rock Bottom) but MLC fought him off with a hard elbow and delivered John Wilkes Boot (Running Yakuza Kick to the back of the head) before covering and picking up the win.
WINNER: Marilyn Lee Cross via pinfall @ 14:17
The Aftermath: After the match MLC celebrated with the title in hand and showed it off before looking to the ramp. She motioned for someone to come challenge her. Outlaw walked out and made his way down to the bottom of the ramp and pointed at the Primetime Title. He could be heard saying he was coming for his title as MLC smirked. The fans popped as Noavrra came out to the stage and watched on. It was clear that there was competition for the Primetime Champion in the near future.
Speechless
We know the set up; it’s backstage of the EW Warehouse. The backdrop is there with the Hype logo as the crew is starting to set up for #Afterparty. The World Champion Lacy Nelson is starting to walk by with her bag in hand as she moves to her locker room, the World Title perched on her shoulder. She notices the camera and asks if it’s on and she gets a nod. She removes her sunglasses after dropping her bag.
Lacy Nelson: A few weeks ago I mentioned on Twitter that there was a lot of really good talent in Empire Wrestling. I said that I was looking forward to facing any one of them. On that list, in no particular order, was our Extreme Champion, Tia Santos. Tia has been almost unstoppable here in Empire Wrestling. If I’m not mistaken, she’s only lost one or two matches, tops. I know that she once took on FM and lost, in a similar match of champion versus champion. Losing to FM is nothing to be upset about as I think she’s one of the greatest to ever step foot in this company. Hell, I’ve lost to her before.
Lacy takes a few seconds and bites her lip and sighs as she’s in thought.
Lacy Nelson: Anyway. Tonight, Tia, we step into that ring and we represent this company as champions. Tonight, we leave the fans speechless. Tonight, we write the headline that we are the future of wrestling.
She pops on her sunglasses and gives a smile before heading off camera.
Daniel Daemon Vs. Junji Buranku Vs. Summer Page
The Start: These three entered the ring and it was clear tensions were high. Junji quickly attacked Daemon with strikes but Daemon swatted him away with a toss. Page jumped on the back of Daemon and tried locking in a sleeper but he flipped her forward. Junji was right back on Daemon and the numbers game started to catch up to him as Page and Junji briefly worked together.
The Match: Junji and Page tried to take Daemon out of the match but he started to battle back with hard chops. Daemon hit Page with a headbutt that dropped her to the mat. Junji looked for a crossbody and was slammed to the mat with a powerslam. The fans roared behind Daemon as he was fired up. Daemon caught Page as she charged and drove her to the mat with a chokeslam. Junji was up and hit a dropkick that sent Daemon into the ropes. Junji charged and hit a crossbody and the two of them went over the top rope to the floor.
The End: Mr. Fixit ran down the ramp and it was moments later before he and Junji Buranku started to team up on Daemon. Daemon tried to fight back as they fought up the ramp. Another pop from the crowd came as Josh Goldstein came running out to help his partner. Summer Page stood in the ring as the two teams disappeared into the back and the referee called for the stoppage of the match.
WINNER: Summer Page via stoppage @ 10:09
Karli Frost Vs. Manic
The Start: Frost came to the ring with Alicia Monroe, as Casey Grey wasn’t in the building tonight. The lights went out and back up in a dark red as Manic made her way down slowly. She crawled up the steel steps and through the ropes and sat in the corner. Once the lights came up she just tilted her head at Frost. Frost seemed spooked and Monroe cheered her on from the outside. The match started as Manic pulled herself up to her feet and the two locked up. Frost hit a hard spinebuster and popped up and Manic sat right up and climbed to her feet. Frost unloaded with clotheslines and forearms before driving Manic to the mat with a DDT and then sat beside her. Manic sat up and turned to Frost with a smile as Frost rolled out of the ring to regroup.
The Match: It seemed like Manic was able to shake off most of what Frost threw at her. Frost did pick up a two count after hitting the Aphrodisiac (Northern Lights Bomb). Manic kicked out and it was like a switch was flipped and she pounced on Frost with vicious right hands. Manic and Frost climbed to their feet and Manic hit a slingblade. Manic jumped to the apron and hit Monroe with a running apron kick that caught her in the jaw. Manic jumped back into the ring ring and hit Frost with a spinning backfist before delivering the Breakneck (Fireman's Carry Neckbreaker). Manic covered but Frost was able to kick out at two. Frost looked for a small package but Manic kicked out at one. Frost was able to hit Manic with a leg sweep and then went to the corner. Frost looked for AMRAAM (Missile Dropkick) but Manic moved out of the way.
The End: Manic hit the ropes and hit a devastating Splitting Headache (Bicycle Knee Strike) on Frost. Manic pulled at her own hair and screamed in the face of Frost laying on the mat. Manic pulled her up and readied herself before delivering Death Inside (Murphy's Law). Manic sat on the chest of Frost and picked up the victory.
WINNER: Manic via pinfall @ 12:42
The Aftermath: Manic pat the face of Frost. Monroe tried to get into the ring and the lights went out for a few moments and once they came back up, Manic was gone.
Piensa En El Futuro
As the ring crew prepares for the main event in just a few moments, Kevin Olson is seen standing in front of the interview backdrop with Empire’s Extreme Champion, Tia Santos. About to head out to the ring, she’s fully geared up with her bandana around her face, her title around her waist and her new “Saint of Killaz” t-shirt with a deep cut removal of the sleeves. Above the fold of her mask, her eyes burn with a cold flame of unrelenting disdain. This disdain adjusts between the camera and Kevin Olson himself as he speaks.
Kevin Olson: Hello again, ladies and gentlemen. We are just moments away from our Main Event of the evening. I’m here now with one of the competitors. Please help me welcome the Empire Wrestling Extreme Champion, known as the...Saint of Killers...Tia Santos.
Kevin pauses to give Tia a moment to acknowledge however she chooses. She just rolls her wrist in one hand and waits, seemingly growing impatient, so Kevin continues.
Kevin Olson: Tia, this is your second champion versus champion match in Empire, yet your first time facing the World Champion, Lacy Nelson. Tell me, what do you hope to gain out of this match?
Tia’s gaze shifts to Kevin then back to the camera, never changing from that perpetual glare. When she starts to speak, an offscreen translator interprets for Kevin.
Tia Santos: Lacy Nelson did what I could not. She defeated F.M. Young, the Tiger, the Amazon, in singles competition. Mind you, there are others who have bested Young, however she is the only opponent who has bested me. The only one to escape Death’s hand. My goal on this night is the same as it was when I faced F.M. Young, as it has always been: to evolve. To ascend. To expand MY empire that has been rapidly growing ever since I set foot through Empire’s doors. In order to achieve that...stronger souls must be claimed. Grander spoils must be obtained.
Kevin nods, raising his eyebrows at the camera as Tia talks about evolving and ascending.
Kevin Olson: Does that mean, Tia, that you have your eyes set on the Empire World Championship, itself?
Tia’s shoulder shake as she chuckles softly, idly beginning to rub her hands together in anticipation.
Tia Santos: Yes. Yes, Mr. Olson. Who wouldn’t have their eyes set on the top title when they step into a company? Do not mistake my ambitions of higher glory for being complacent. Do not assume I am taking for granted what I have fought for and already obtained.
Tia reaches down and unclasps the Extreme Championship from around her waist and holds it up to the camera.
Tia Santos: Oye, mira, mira….
She slaps the center plate of her title and rests it across her shoulder, holding it proudly.
Tia Santos: I fought for this title. I gave sweat and blood for this title. I have put my mortal body on the line to keep it right where it is and for over five months, nobody has been enough of a warrior to take it from me. Even the World Champion has the sense to recognize that. Meanwhile, Austin Scott, who has already fallen to me once, seems to think that the Gods will grant him favor in a second attempt. Your petty threats do not concern me, Austin. Your attempts to use my fiance do not worry me. She can handle herself perfectly fine. You, however, would do well to watch as two champions meet on the mat here, very soon. Open your eyes and pay attention and after tonight, if you still think you would like to try your luck at cheating Death, you know where to find me. I will take great pleasure in burying your corpse with the worms where it belongs….
Kevin Olson adjusts his tie and shirt collar, swallowing nervously. Being this close to a fired up Tia Santos isn’t exactly the most comfortable of situations.
Kevin Olson: Sounds like you’re laying down the challenge to Austin Scott, but tell me, what’s your strategy for going against Lacy Nelson, tonight?
Tia pushes some hair out of her face and scoffs under her bandana at Kevin, shaking her head.
Tia Santos: Escucha, idiota….
Tia reaches up and claps a hand down on Kevin’s shoulder.
Tia Santos: Don’t think of me as being as dumb as you or anyone else here. I know how Lacy Nelson operates. I have paid close attention. I appreciate her praise from one champion to another and, as such, from one champion to another, I give her the same, but I don’t expect to be able to let my guard down - something I never do anyway. I know it is not beneath Nelson to praise one to their face then lash out and attack them when they least suspect it. She has yet to do so with me. Yet. Perhaps she will try and when she does, she will see that I have eyes and ears everywhere. I see everything. I hear everything. Things your eyes and ears cannot. I will not let my one and only loss here in Empire distract me from looking ahead to the future, Lacy. However, I also know sometimes, it is a safe bet to look behind you as well. I am ready for you, champ. Pray to your God that you are ready for me….
Tia shoots a gun hand at the camera and brushes past Kevin Olson as she heads out to Gorilla position….
Tia Santos Vs. Lacy Nelson
The Start: There was a lot of buzz for the match as both competitors came to the ring with big ovations. The two met in the middle of the ring and shared a few words and even quickly shook hands before the bell. The two locked up and tried to back each other into the ropes but they planted themselves and had to break as neither moved. They locked back up and Santos got Nelson down to a knee but the World Champion tripped her up and looked for a leg lock but Tia was able to slip away to the ropes. Tia pulled herself up and Lacy caught her with a hard forearm to the face. Santos landed a kick to the gut and then flipped Nelson over with a hip toss. Nelson rolled to her feet and caught Santos with a sidewalk slam. They both climbed to their feet and stood across from each other with a hint of a smile and fixed their hair.
The Match: These two went blow for blow with hard strikes. Nelson looked for a powerbomb but Santos countered with a headscissors takedown. Santos then looked for a swinging neckbreaker but Nelson kept her spinning and pulled her in for a DDT. Nelson had the first near fall as she was able to hit Santos with the Deadline (Tiger Driver '98) but Santos kicked out at two. Santos started to battle right back as half of the crowd rallied behind her. Santos hit a handstand pele kick to stagger Nelson. With Nelson staggered, Santos delivered the Vela en la Noche ([Candle in the Night] Tia either climbs or runs up the turnbuckle (depending on the pace of the match) and performs a Whisper In The Wind leap off the top. She comes down onto her opponent’s shoulders and nails a hurricanrana). Nelson was pinned under Santos and just kicked out at two. Santos got to her feet and started to set up for Beso de Muerte ([Kiss of Death] Dream DDT) but Nelson was able to slip away. Nelson hit the ropes and caught Santos with a spear and then popped right up to her feet. Nelson looked for the Hollywood Split (Shining Wizard) but Santos ducked it and rolled Nelson up with a school boy pin attempt and almost had three but Nelson kicked out just in time. Nelson got to her feet and rocked Santos with the Superkick but the Extreme Champion fell backwards and went through the ropes, not allowing Nelson to cover.
The End: Nelson had to go after Santos and the two battled briefly on the outside before Lacy rolled Tia into the ring. Nelson pulled Santos into position for the Byline (Canadian Destroyer) but Santos countered with a backdrop. Santos turned and rocked Nelson with a big chick kick and then fell backwards. The crowd quickly started to boo as Jason Evans, Kaito Hirano, and Austin Scott rushed to the ring and attacked both ladies as the referee called for the bell.
DRAW @ 18:33
The Aftermath: The boos continued as Hirano shouted instructions at Scott and Evans. Nelson and Santos started to battle back and tossed them out of the ring and were ready for another fight. Sara Logan came out and made the announcement that Tia and Lacy would take on Jason and Austin, RIGHT NOW!
Tia Santos & Lacy Nelson Vs. Austin Scott & Jason Evans
The Start: Evans and Scott were clearly not ready as they shouted at Logan on the outside of the ring. Nelson and Santos looked at each other and gave a nod. They hit the ropes and Santos went up and over with a tope con hilo as Nelson went through with a tope suicida! They brawled on the outside before finally tossing in Dishonor. Hirano tried to get in the face of Santos but she dropped him with a chick kick.
The Match: Tia and Lacy isolated Evans in the corner and worked him over. This was a very quick match as Dishonor was in street clothes and not ready to compete in a full match. Scott jumped in and tried to even the odds as the referee still didn’t have control of the match. Scott rocked Santos with Straight Whiskey (Running Lariat). He then lifted her up and looked for Booze Cruisin' (Oklahoma Slam) but he turned right into Nelson’s Superkick! Santos pulled him in and delivered Kiss of Death. Evans was checking on Hirano on the outside who bumped his head on the steel steps after the chick kick from Santos.
The End: Nelson hit Scott with the Headline (Eat Defeat) and pointed to Santos. She went to the top rope and came flying backwards, dropping on him with a coffin drop! She covered as Nelson held off Evans, picking up the win.
WINNERS: Tia Santos & Lacy Nelson
The Aftermath: Nelson and Santos celebrated separately with their titles before meeting in the middle. Santos looked down at the World Title before Nelson held it up high and then raised the hand of Santos. The two shared a few more words before we went off-air.
