Alison James: Folks, welcome to BWF Danger Zone! We are LIVE in the House of Blazenwing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin... and what a show we have for you tonight!
Liam Stewart: We have seven huge matches, titles on the line, and in our DOUBLE main event - yes, you heard that right - we have a Battle of the Happenstance Kings, as Johnny Maverick battles Fenryr Wulfsson in what is sure to be a brutal contest!
Alison James: Plus, with Risa Jackson on the shelf indefinitely, her Money in the Bank briefcase is on the line in a Handicap TLC Match, pitting Sovereign Champion Stutterfly and Hall of Famer Gabe Shelley against the current BWF World Champion Nessa Wall and the Tag Team Champs 2 Broke Chicks!
Liam Stewart: Anyone who claims the briefcase wins it... and that could mean for the first time ever, we have a Money in the Bank holder who is ALREADY the World Champion! What happens then?
Alison James: Stay tuned... we could very well find out later tonight! But right now, let's head down to the ring - it's time for our first match of the night, as El Diablo Blanco and Noelle Jansen debut against former Tag Team Champions Krista May Williams and Kayla Taylor!
In the opening contest of Danger Zone 2021, the debuting team of EDB and Noelle Jansen impressed, despite not teaming with one another prior to this contest. A late-match miscommunication, however, led to a brief argument between the two debuting stars, giving the former Tag Team Champions the minute opening they needed to catch Noelle with a roll-up and score the victory.
This match never got started, as we see Azurine and Billie both laid out backstage. As a BWF official questions Drake (who vehemently denies any wrongdoing), Stutterfly appears out of nowhere and lays out Drake with the title. Stutterfly brags that now NOBODY gets a shot at her title. Of course, Jen Corlen appears on the scene and books her in a Fatal 4-Way title defense between her, Azurine, Drake and Billie at WrestleFest X on July 21. Stutterfly angrily protests, but Jen tells her she has a main event to get ready for tonight, leaving Stutterfly to just stomp off angrily.
Zoe Cooper was the first person eliminated, the majority of the match focusing on the former BWF World Champion to get her out early. Jaxon Taylor was next, victim of a clothesline from Vincent Thorn - who immediately followed thanks to a double team dropkick from Kash and Hayato. Talia Areano and Akemi Hayashi were the next out; after dueling onto the apron, a big boot from the Champion sent both women to the floor. Kash and Hayato made a temporary pact to eliminate Ghost from the match, only for Kash to turn on Hayato and eliminate him as soon as his back was turned. While Kash gloated, Ghost caught him with the Crimson Mist (The Ghost spits a burning/temporarily blinding red mist in his opponents eyes) followed by a quick elimination to retain his championship.
In a quick contest, Enforcer (no doubt still seething following his Happenstance loss) made quick work of Anaru Kalua, flattening him with a bevy of Death Penalty DDTs before finally locking him in the Omerta (Katahajime) for the submission victory.
You would think a Street Fight would mean 'there must be a winner', yeah? Well, these guys didn't get the memo, as they never actually made it to the ring to START the match. Allen kicks AJ's locker room door down, they immediately begin brawling, and fight their way through the backstage area before exiting the arena and brawling into the actual street. (Maybe we should have been a bit more specific about the rules of this one.)
Tonight should have been Johnny Maverick facing Nessa Wall for the BWF World Title, but a returning former Happenstance King in Fenryr Wulfsson did his best to ruin Johnny's night back on April 30. Before he gets his title shot, Johnny wanted to return the favor to Fenryr, and thus, here we are. Fenryr and Johnny beat the ever-living HELL out of each other in this match - easily the night's most brutal contest thus far. At times, it seemed like Johnny might not even make it to the end of this match, much less his forthcoming title opportunity.
But, what is Johnny Maverick, if not passion (and guts) persevering?
Indeed, Johnny pulls his way back from the jaws of defeat, seemingly digging way down into said guts and hitting a second wind that seemingly stunned even Fenryr. "Whatever it takes" was the mantra of the 2021 Happenstance King going into this match and, indeed, Johnny rolls-up Fenryr, leading to Fenryr's manager Rune jumping onto the apron to distract the referee. Johnny planned on this, the pin breaks and as Fenryr jumps back to his feet, Johnny channels another famous Johnny, Mr. Cage, and punches the mountain of a man straight in the junk. With Fenryr staggered, Johnny kips up, runs the ropes and comes back with a Third Eye Opener (Ripcord bicycle Knee strike) right between the eyes of the former World Champion. Johnny covers, gets the three count, and even Rune is absolutely beside herself.
A hell of a TLC Match ensues between these five individuals, and for most of the contest, the Champion team holds the advantage, if only through sheer force of numbers. Eventually, the tide turns when Chiaki suffers a nasty head shot from the steel chair to the face, busting her open and forcing the referees to remove her from the contest. With the sides evened out, the Shelleys slowly begin to gain ground, eventually culminating in the two of them handcuffing Jane to the steel ring barricade on the outside.
The BWF World Champion tries to free her partner, but the Shelleys are clearly not above playing dirty, as they separate them and slowly wear Nessa down. At one point, Jane nearly frees herself, but a Lethal Ejection (RKO) from Stutterfly to the outside incapacitates the Tag Team Champion. In the ring, Gabe and Nessa face off, eventually making their way onto a ladder beneath the briefcase. As they battle for supremacy, Stutterfly sets up several tables stacked together behind the Champion. When Stutt yells for Nessa, the Champ is distracted just for a moment, which leaves Gabe able to shove her off of the ladder and through the tables Stutterfly had set up!
The crowd boos loudly as Gabe sets himself on top of the ladder, faces the crowd and puts a hand on the briefcase, his wife climbing the side of the ladder Nessa fell off to join him. They pose, Gabe reaches up to unhook the briefcase... and Stutterfly suddenly shoves him off of the top of the ladder! The crowd can't believe it as Stutterfly stares at her husband, down on the mat, almost not believing it herself. She suddenly snaps out of it, reaches up and unhooks the Money in the Bank briefcase, ending the match and awarding the victory to her team!
With everyone in the match still absolutely wrecked, Stutterfly surveys the field while staring at her newly-won briefcase. Without a second thought, she moves over to the nearest referee and hands him the briefcase, demanding they ring the bell. Scott Benjamin announces the title match, the referee rings the bell, and we have a World Title match!
Nessa, barely conscious from the nasty table bump she took at the end of the TLC Match, slowly pulls herself out of the debris, likely not even aware of what has just begun. She stands up, shakes herself steady and turns around... right into the Lethal Ejection (RKO) from the challenger! Stutterfly quickly covers, the referee has no choice but to count, and three seconds later, we have a new BWF World Champion.
"Mz. Hyde" by Halestorm plays as Stutterfly is handed the World Title and quickly exits the ring. She hobbles her way up the ramp, grinning from ear to ear, as she leans her face against the title.
Liam Stewart: I don't believe it. Katie James - or rather, Stutterfly - is the BWF World Champion! She is going to the main event of WrestleFest to defend the title against the Happenstance King, Johnny Maverick!
Alison James: And she only needed to burn every last bridge in order to get there! I mean, she cost her own husband another run as BWF World Champion! How do you justify that?!
Liam Stewart: It's the BWF WORLD TITLE, Alison. You do what you must to make it to the top of the company. Sometimes, that just means screwing over your loved ones. Or are you just salty that it isn't you up there?
Alison James: Please. Of course I would love to be BWF World Champion, but I want to get there the right way, not by literally scorching the Earth of anything that ever mattered to me.
Liam Stewart: Well, I doubt Stutterfly cares about any of that right now, and truthfully, neither will history. All the books will say is "Stutterfly, BWF World Champion".
Alison James: History IS written by the victors, as they say, and regardless of whether or not I approve of her methods... you're absolutely right when it comes to that.
After a quick plug for BWF's final event, WrestleFest X, on July 21, 2021, we see one last shot of Stutterfly celebrating on the stage - before she is joined by Johnny Maverick! The two stars share an incredibly tense stare down before fading to the UWA-BWF logo, then finally to black.
